What is the DPDP Act?
The Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 is India's law about personal data — information that is about you, like your name, email or your lesson scores. It says that companies must:
- tell you clearly what data they collect and why,
- ask for your permission (your consent) — and for anyone under 18, ask a parent or guardian,
- keep data safe and delete it when it's no longer needed,
- let you see, fix and delete your data, and complain if something goes wrong.
The law also says companies must not track children, watch their behaviour, or target ads at them.

Timeline
Questions
Why do you ask for my date of birth?
Only to know if you are under 18. If you are, the law says we must get your parent's or guardian's permission first.
Does my school's account need my parent's permission too?
Yes — but your school collects it. The school decides to use Codewaala and gets consent from parents; we look after the data on the school's instructions.
What happens to what I type into CodeShaala AI?
It is sent to an AI service (Microsoft Azure or Google) to make your code. We remove email addresses and phone numbers first, and we don't keep your prompts. Please never type personal information.
Who can see me on the leaderboard?
Only signed-in students, and by default only from your own school. We show your first name and the first letter of your last name. Your parent can turn this off.
If I delete my account, is everything gone?
Yes, your account, progress and scores are deleted. We keep only a scrambled (hashed) record that a deletion happened, and payment records that tax law requires us to keep for 8 years, no longer linked to your account.
Do you sell my data or show ads?
No. Never.
Where can I read the full details?
In our Privacy Notice.
